How to get shortlisted for BFSI sales jobs in Gujarat
· Swaraaj Consultancy
Swaraaj Consultancy shortlists BFSI sales candidates for Gujarat mandates every week. The filter is boring on purpose: channel, city, licence, numbers, notice period. If those are missing, a well-written objective will not save the application. This is how to put them on the page and apply so a human actually reads you.
The order we read a CV
Channel and city in the first screen. Then IRDAI (or a clear note that you will obtain it). Then one line of target versus achievement. Then notice period. Everything else — hobbies, a photo, a three-line objective — is noise.
If you are applying to a Surat agency role with an Ahmedabad banca CV and no numbers, we will not infer the rest. Say what you did, where, and against what target.
- Channel: banca, agency, broker or direct — use the same word as the posting.
- City: the one you can work from. These jobs are on-site.
- Numbers: target, achievement, period. Percentage alone is not enough.
- Licence: IRDAI, plus NISM/AMFI if you have sold investment products.
Write evidence, not duties
“Responsible for achieving sales targets” is the line we see most and trust least. “Achieved 118% of an annual premium target of ₹1.2 Cr in FY25, banca, Ahmedabad” is a line we can place.
Add product mix and ticket size (term, ULIP, traditional), and if you ran a team, advisors recruited and activated — not only 'managed a team'. Persistency and collection ratios belong on the resume if you have them; hiring managers in life insurance will ask anyway.
Get past the ATS, then past us
The careers portal parses a clean, single-column PDF. Multi-column templates, photos and icons fail parsers and do not impress a recruiter who has to re-type your dates. Use ordinary headings: Experience, Education, Skills, Certifications.
We publish a free resume builder for this reason. Download the PDF without an account, then apply on the portal. An account is only needed if you want to save the resume or track the application.
Apply on the job, not to the company
Open the live listing that matches your city and channel and apply there. A general email to the company inbox is not an application to a mandate. After you apply, use the candidate portal to track status.
If you are not ready to apply, still build the resume. A current CV with numbers is useful the week a Rajkot broker seat or a Vadodara direct-channel role goes live.
Common questions
- Do you accept applications by email?
- Use the careers portal for a specific role. The company inbox is for employers briefing a hire, and for candidates who cannot access the portal — it is not the fastest path into a live mandate.
- What if I do not have insurance experience?
- Junior agency and some banca seats can take a first BFSI role if the sales evidence is real (any target-led selling) and you will get licensed. Do not hide a career change; state it in one line.
- Should I put a photo on the CV?
- No. It does not help an ATS or our screen. Use that space for channel, city and numbers.
Fix the resume. Then apply on the right listing.
Build a clean PDF, pick the city and channel on the portal, and apply once — completely.
