For candidates

Engineering jobs

Gujarat is one of India’s densest manufacturing states, and engineering hiring here is concentrated in specific clusters rather than spread evenly.

Where the engineering work is

Engineering hiring in Gujarat follows the clusters. Vadodara has the deepest general engineering and technical base in the state, with a long industrial history and the workforce that comes with it. Rajkot anchors a dense cluster of castings, auto components and machine tools, and Morbi nearby is one of the largest ceramics clusters in the world. The Bharuch–Ankleshwar–Vapi corridor is chemicals and process industry. Surat adds textile and process engineering.

This concentration is why location is a real constraint in engineering hiring rather than a detail. Candidates in these towns are far less mobile than in a metro — a role in Vapi is usually filled from Vapi — and salary benchmarks vary meaningfully between clusters for the same job title.

The other thing worth knowing is how much of this market is small and mid-sized family-run business. That shapes the work: broader responsibility, less process formality, and a hiring decision that weighs fit with a close-held organisation as heavily as technical capability.

Roles we recruit for

  • Production / manufacturing engineer

Shop-floor output, process adherence and line productivity.

  • Quality engineer / QA-QC

Inspection, documentation and customer quality requirements. ISO and process documentation experience helps.

  • Maintenance engineer

Preventive and breakdown maintenance across mechanical, electrical and utilities.

  • Design and drawing

CAD-based design and detailing, usually needing specific software depth.

  • Plant supervisor / shift in-charge

Running a shift, with responsibility for people as well as output.

  • Technical sales and service

Field roles for candidates who want the technical grounding without staying on the shop floor.

What gets you shortlisted

Engineering screening is concrete. Generic CVs do badly here; specific ones do well:

  • Diploma or degree, discipline, and year — stated clearly at the top.
  • The industry you have worked in: castings, ceramics, chemicals, textiles, auto components, fabrication.
  • Machines, processes and materials you have actually handled, by name.
  • Software depth where relevant: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, ANSYS.
  • Quality systems exposure — ISO, TPM, 5S, Six Sigma — with what you actually did, not just the acronym.
  • Your location and whether you will relocate. Be honest; mobility assumptions cause most failed engineering placements.

Skills employers screen for

  • Production planning
  • Quality control
  • Preventive maintenance
  • AutoCAD
  • SolidWorks
  • ISO systems
  • Lean manufacturing
  • Shop-floor supervision

Engineering jobs — common questions

Do you recruit diploma engineers or only degree holders?
Both. A large share of production, quality and maintenance hiring in Gujarat is diploma-level, and for many shop-floor roles employers prefer it.
Which cities have the most engineering jobs?
Vadodara has the deepest general engineering base. Rajkot and Morbi cover castings, auto components and ceramics; the Bharuch–Ankleshwar–Vapi corridor covers chemicals and process industry.
Do I need to relocate?
Often yes, because the work sits where the clusters are. Be upfront about whether you will — mistaken assumptions about mobility are the most common reason an engineering placement falls through.
Can freshers apply?
Yes. Entry-level production and quality roles come up regularly, and a fresher who can name the processes and machines from their training stands out immediately.
