For candidates

Life insurance jobs

This is the largest part of what we recruit for. Most of our live mandates are life insurance sales roles in Gujarat — and which channel you apply to matters more than almost anything else on your CV.

Four channels, four different jobs

People talk about “insurance sales” as one job. It is at least four, and they have less in common than you would expect. In bancassurance you sit inside a bank branch and work the bank’s existing customers, so your day is as much about keeping branch staff on side as it is about selling. In agency you recruit and activate advisors who generate their own business — you are building a team, not personally closing every policy.

Direct and open-market roles put you in front of customers you sourced yourself, which suits people who would rather hunt than maintain relationships. Telesales is phone-based, usually with leads provided, in one location rather than a field beat — the most predictable of the four, and the one with the clearest daily rhythm.

Choosing wrong is the most common reason a good salesperson stalls in this industry. A strong banca performer dropped into agency often struggles, not through lack of ability, but because recruiting advisors is a different skill from working a branch book. Employers know this, which is why the first filter on your application is almost always the channel you have actually worked.

Roles we recruit for

  • Bancassurance relationship manager

Branch-based, selling to the bank's customer base. Needs patience with branch politics and steady follow-through more than aggressive closing.

  • Agency development / unit manager

Recruit, license and activate advisors, then hold their productivity. You are measured on your team's numbers, not only your own.

  • Direct and open-market sales

Self-sourced customers. Rewards sourcing discipline and CRM hygiene as much as the pitch itself.

  • Telesales / tele executive

Phone-based selling, usually inbound or with leads provided. One location, structured day, clear targets.

  • Channel partner and alliance sales

Working through brokers, DSAs and corporate partners rather than direct customers or a bank branch.

  • Team leader and branch roles

First-line management for candidates who have carried a number themselves and can now hold others to one.

What gets you shortlisted

Recruiters filter fast in this industry. These are the things actually being looked for, in roughly the order they are checked:

  • The channel you have worked — banca, agency, direct, tele — stated plainly, not left to be guessed.
  • Target versus achievement with the period attached. “118% of a ₹1.2 Cr annual premium target” beats “responsible for sales targets”.
  • Product mix and typical ticket size: term, ULIP, traditional, health.
  • IRDAI licensing status, and any NISM or AMFI certification, with the year.
  • Persistency and, for agency profiles, advisors recruited and activated.
  • The city you can actually work in daily — these are on-site roles, not remote ones.

Skills employers screen for

  • Bancassurance
  • Agency channel
  • Direct sales
  • Telesales
  • IRDAI licensing
  • Lead generation
  • CRM
  • Persistency management

Life insurance jobs — common questions

Do I need an IRDAI licence before applying?
Not always — many employers sponsor licensing for the right candidate, particularly at entry level. If you already hold one, say so with the year, because it moves your application forward.
Which channel pays the most?
It depends more on performance than on channel. Agency has the highest ceiling and the most variability; bancassurance and telesales are steadier. Pick the one that fits how you actually work rather than the headline number.
Can I move from banca to agency?
Yes, but be ready to explain why. They are genuinely different jobs — one works an existing bank book, the other builds an advisor team — and employers will ask whether you understand the difference.
Are these jobs only in Gujarat?
Most of our live life insurance mandates are in Gujarat, across Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and the surrounding towns. Check the careers portal for what is open right now.
