For candidates
Accounting and finance jobs
Non-sales BFSI and corporate finance roles — the ones measured on accuracy and closing the books on time rather than on a monthly number.
Where these roles sit
Accounting and finance hiring splits fairly cleanly into two worlds. In corporate and manufacturing businesses you get accounts teams doing payables, receivables, reconciliation, GST and the monthly close. In financial services and shared-service centres you get analysis, reporting, controllership and audit, usually with tighter process discipline and more system dependence.
Gujarat has plenty of both, but they are not evenly distributed. Ahmedabad carries the regional and head-office finance functions. Vadodara and Rajkot skew towards manufacturing and family-run business finance, where one person may own the whole accounts function rather than a slice of it. Surat's trading base generates a lot of transactional accounting work.
That distinction matters for your application. A candidate who has run an entire small-company accounts function and a candidate who has specialised deeply in one process at a large firm are both valuable, but to different employers. Be clear which one you are.

What gets you shortlisted
Finance CVs are screened on specifics. Vague ones get filtered whatever the experience behind them:
- Qualification and status — CA, CMA, CS, MBA Finance, M.Com, B.Com — including if you are part-qualified, stated honestly.
- The processes you own end to end, not just the ones you have touched.
- Software depth: Tally, SAP, Oracle, Zoho, QuickBooks, and how far your Excel actually goes.
- Statutory work handled directly — GST, TDS, ROC filings, assessments.
- Whether you closed books, and to what timeline.
- Team size managed, if any, and the scale of the entity by turnover.

Accounting and finance jobs — common questions
- Do I need to be a qualified CA?
- For most roles, no. B.Com and M.Com graduates with real hands-on experience fill the majority of accounts positions. CA, CMA and CS qualifications matter most for audit, controllership and senior finance roles.
- Is Tally enough, or do I need SAP?
- Tally covers most small and mid-sized business roles in Gujarat. SAP or Oracle experience opens up larger corporates and shared-service centres, and is worth flagging prominently if you have it.
- Are these sales roles?
- No. Accounting and finance roles are measured on accuracy, compliance and timely closing — not on a monthly sales target.
- Do you recruit for fresher accounts roles?
- Yes, entry-level accounts positions come up regularly. Solid fundamentals, a working knowledge of Tally and clear communication get a fresher further than a long list of certifications.
