Hiring a healthcare BPO team in India: claims, billing, AR and patient support

· Swaraaj Consultancy

A healthcare BPO brief that only says healthcare produces the wrong shortlist. Claims processing, medical billing, AR calling, denial management and patient support are different jobs, and a profile that fits one often fails the next. This is what to name before a search starts. We hire these teams across metro cities in India. The Healthcare BPO service is how a mandate is staffed once the brief is clear.

These processes are not the same hire

Treat the process name as the job. A candidate who has worked claims is not automatically a billing hire, and an AR caller is not a patient-support executive.

  • Claims processing: checking a claim against the documents and the rules on the file, then moving it to the next status. This is checklist work, not a clinical decision.
  • Medical billing: turning a visit or a procedure into a bill a payer will accept. Accuracy in the billing system matters more than a phone manner.
  • AR calling: outbound calls to chase unpaid or stuck accounts. It is a voice role with a resolution target.
  • Denial management: reading why a claim was denied and correcting or appealing it. The denial reason is the skill, not a generic claims line on a CV.
  • Patient support: answering patients on appointments, bills or status. Voice and non-voice are separate seats.

What the brief has to name

Four fields decide whether a search is workable. Leave one out and the shortlist mixes people who cannot work the shift, or who are voice when the seat is non-voice.

  • The process: claims, billing, AR calling, denial management (denials), or patient support. One mandate can cover more than one, but each seat should name one.
  • The shift, including night or US hours if that is the account. Shift readiness is checked against the hours you write down.
  • Voice or non-voice. AR calling is voice. Claims, billing and denials are often non-voice. Patient support can be either.
  • The batch size, and whether you need freshers, experienced people, or both. Sourcing follows the number of interviews you can actually run.

What we will not assume about certifications

We do not screen for a US coding credential unless you specify it. CPC, CCS and similar certificates are common on some billing and coding seats and irrelevant on others. If a seat needs one, write the exact credential in the brief and we will screen for it. If it does not, say so.

Without that line, screening stays on the process you named: communication, typing where the seat is non-voice, shift readiness, and past experience in that process. A short test is added only when the seat needs one.

Where we hire

We hire these teams across metro cities in India. That is not a ready bench in each city. Name the city in the brief and we will tell you what the search involves there, including when we would be sourcing it from scratch.

Swaraaj works from Rajkot and Ahmedabad. The deepest track record is BFSI, BPO, KPO and GCC. Healthcare BPO is a service we already run, and that service page is where the staffing process is written down. We will not quote a headcount for a city the brief has not named.

Common questions

Can you hire for night shifts?
Yes, when the brief names the shift. We confirm shift readiness before a profile is shared. We do not assume every candidate will work US hours.
Do you screen for US medical coding certifications?
Only if you specify the credential. CPC, CCS and similar certificates are not a default screen. Put the exact one in the brief if the seat needs it. If it does not, we screen for claims, billing, AR calling, denial management or patient support.
Can you hire freshers and experienced people in one batch?
Yes. Say the experience level and the batch size. The plan follows the number of interviews you can run, not a headcount on paper.
How do we start?
Submit a requirement on the Hire page, or email amit@swaraajconsultancy.in. We reply during business hours, Monday to Friday.

Hiring a healthcare BPO team?

Name the process, the shift, voice or non-voice, the city and the batch size. If a seat needs a specific coding credential, put that in the notes.
